Chapter One: Paris, France 1883
This is the story of Ben Carré. He was born in Paris before film even existed. But based on his life story, it seems like destiny that he came to define it. This is a remembrance of one of the very first, and very best, Art Directors.

Paris and Fort Lee: 1910–1912
Paris was the center for motion picture production in 1910, but its dominance was soon to be challenged in a place called Fort Lee, New Jersey. A sleepy village being used as a backlot by Manhattan’s start-up picture companies.
Chapter Two: Fort Lee and Hollywood
The focus will be on the crucible of invention that Fort Lee became, Ben’s thirty-two films with French director Maurice Tourneur, and their eventual relocation in 1919 to a distant agrarian village called Hollywood.
